Switching on artist tools, and what they give you
There is no artist application and no waiting list. Artist tools switch on from your account, instantly, and your collector access stays exactly as it was.
What switching them on gives you
The substantive change is that you can register work as its creator rather than as its owner, which is a different claim and unlocks different things.
- A resale royalty. You set a percentage when you register a piece, and on every resale through the Veriroo marketplace it is calculated, deducted from the sale proceeds and paid to you automatically. Every artist gets this, on any plan.
- Creator metadata you control, until a first sale locks it.
- The ability to issue a Certificate of Authenticity on your own work once its record reaches Green Status.
- Selling. Originals and limited editions on the marketplace, and open prints of work you created.
- Work in progress records. Dated notes and photographs that evidence you made the piece.
What it costs to sell
Nothing to switch on, and nothing to hold work in your collection. Fees apply when something sells: originals and limited editions carry a 5% platform fee plus card processing, taken from your payout. Open prints work differently, at 15% of the print price with a 3 pound minimum and card processing already inside it, with printing and delivery passed through at cost.
You need Stripe payouts connected before you can be paid.
What Artist Pro adds
Artist Pro is a subscription on top, and the line between free and Pro is worth being clear about because it is not the line most platforms draw.
Free artists can register work, set royalties, issue certificates, sell originals and limited editions, and sell open prints on the Prints page. The royalty is not a Pro feature and never has been.
Pro adds your own public artist gallery page and your own print shop at your own address, and lets Verity manage that shop for you. Being on any Pro plan, artist or collector, also halves the Veriroo surcharge on expert verification from 20% to 10%.
The thing artists usually ask second
Only the person who created a piece can sell prints of it. Owning a work gives you no right to reproduce it. That rule is enforced rather than stated, and it is the reason the creator claim matters more here than it does on a general marketplace.
Where to go next
If you want people to find your work, the gallery and the Showcase are the two surfaces worth understanding. If you want to sell, prints are the lowest effort route because a lab prints and posts every order and there is nothing for you to pack. Both have their own guides.
