Getting a piece verified by an independent expert

Anyone can register a piece and build its record. What a record cannot do on its own is tell you whether the object is what it claims to be. That takes somebody qualified looking at it, and it is the one thing Veriroo does not do itself.

What Veriroo does is connect you to independent experts, hold the money until the job is done, and record the result permanently whatever it says.

Finding someone

The verifier directory can be searched by specialism, region, and method: remote video, shipping the piece, dropping it in, or a call-out to you. Profiles show credentials, specialisms and fees, so you know the cost before you ask for anything.

If the right expert for your piece is not on the platform, you can invite them to join as a Verification Partner.

What it costs

The verifier sets their own fee. Veriroo adds a surcharge of 20%, or 10% if you are on any Pro plan.

A Certificate of Authenticity is included when a work passes, covered by the verification fee rather than bought separately. That is the only route where a certificate comes included.

The shape of a job

1. You choose a verifier and submit a request.
2. They have 72 hours to accept or decline.
3. If they accept, you pay. Your card is authorised, not charged.
4. The inspection happens by the agreed method.
5. They submit a report, and a 48-hour review window opens.
6. You release it, or it releases automatically after 48 hours. Payment is captured at that moment.

You can read the report as soon as it is submitted. You do not have to release it first. Releasing early simply closes the job and captures payment, and there is a button for it in My Verification Requests.

If the job is cancelled before a report is submitted, the authorisation is released and you are not charged at all.

What the outcomes mean

A verifier chooses one of five: Authentic, Likely authentic, Inconclusive, Not authentic, or Condition report only. Whichever it is, it is recorded on the piece’s provenance once released, permanently.

Inconclusive does not mean fake. It means the available evidence did not support a conclusion, which is a real and honest answer. You can request a second verification afterwards: a new job, a new fee, and it must go to a different verifier, who is told a previous attempt was inconclusive. If the second verifier confirms the piece is genuine, the trust status returns to Verified. The inconclusive attempt stays in the record, because removing it would make the record a sales tool rather than a history.

If two verifiers disagree, the piece may be temporarily restricted from sale while the evidence is reviewed.

If the report was not done properly

During the 48-hour window you can raise a dispute, which pauses payment until both parties agree to resume or cancel.

Disputes are for process problems: evidence missing, an inspection not carried out as agreed. You cannot dispute the verifier’s professional opinion or their outcome. That distinction is the whole point of paying for an independent opinion, and a platform that let buyers appeal conclusions they disliked would not be selling one.

The report is the verifier’s independent professional opinion, recorded permanently for transparency. For a high-value work, a second independent opinion is always worth having.
