Veriroo vs Saatchi Art: an honest comparison for artists
Saatchi Art is bigger than us. We'll say that upfront. Around 1.8 million people visit it every month, and no honest page would pretend otherwise. Here's what that audience costs you — and why a growing number of artists are choosing to build something different anyway.
The 30-second version
Choose Saatchi Art if: you want the largest existing audience for original art today, and you're comfortable paying 40% of every sale for access to it.
Choose Veriroo if: you want to keep 95% of every sale, give your collectors verified provenance and escrow-protected purchases, and help build the marketplace instead of renting space in one.
The honest truth: they have more traffic. We have better economics and a trust layer they don't offer. Which matters more depends on what you're building.

Where Saatchi Art is genuinely better
Saatchi Art has spent more than a decade building an audience, and it shows. If your only goal is maximum passive exposure today — and you're comfortable giving up 40% of each sale, plus the buyer relationship, to get it — Saatchi is a rational choice. Plenty of good artists sell there. We'd rather tell you that plainly than pretend otherwise. But it's worth knowing what artists there say too: it's a saturated platform of 100,000+ sellers where getting discovered usually means driving your own traffic — and still paying full commission on the collectors you bring.
The part they can't match: trust
When a collector buys on Veriroo, they know exactly what they're buying, who made it, and that the money doesn't move until the work arrives as described. That isn't a premium add-on. It's the platform.
- Verified artistsEvery seller's identity is verified before their first listing.
- Provenance on recordEach artwork carries a permanent, verifiable record of origin and ownership — no blockchain, no gas fees.
- Certificates of authenticityIssued through the platform from £5, not left to the artist to improvise.
- Escrow on every saleFunds are protected until the collector confirms the work arrived as described.
The founding artist programme
About that bigger audience.
Here's the part nobody says out loud: the big marketplaces built those audiences with artists' money. Every 40% commission became an ad budget. Artists funded the traffic, then paid again to access it. The bigger the platform got, the more leverage it had — and the fees never came down.
We're building the opposite way. Veriroo keeps its platform fee at 5% and grows because artists want it to exist — artists who list their work, bring their collectors somewhere they're actually protected, and tell one artist they respect. Join early and you don't just get better economics. You shift where the market goes next.
Built with artists, not off them. Keep the fees low. Keep the trust high.
Founding artist places are limited — founding artists lock in their benefits before the crowd arrives.

Do I have to leave Saatchi Art to join Veriroo?
No. Most artists sell across several platforms, and Veriroo has no exclusivity requirement. Many founding artists start by listing three works and directing their own collectors here — where those collectors get provenance and escrow protection, and the artist keeps 95% instead of 60%.
How long does it take to list?
Minutes. Identity verification is the only extra step compared with other platforms — and it's what makes the provenance real for your collectors.
Saatchi doesn't charge listing fees either — so what's the difference?
Neither platform charges to list. The difference arrives when you sell: Saatchi keeps 40% of an original's price; Veriroo keeps 5%. On a £2,000 work, that's £800 versus £100.
Where can I see Veriroo's full fee structure?
Every fee is published on our fees page — platform fee, certificates, verification and Verity valuations. No hidden costs.
