# Veriroo > Veriroo is a global art authentication, provenance, and marketplace platform. Every artwork carries a permanent digital identity — a provenance record and a trust tier based on documentation and expert verification; expert-verified works also receive a Certificate of Authenticity that transfers with ownership on resale. Resale royalties are enforced automatically at the payment layer. The platform serves artists, collectors, galleries, and independent verification experts worldwide. Veriroo is operated by Cardaroo Holdings Ltd (registered in England and Wales, company no. 16872413). The platform is live at https://veriroo.com/ For comprehensive detail see: https://veriroo.com/llms-full.txt ## What makes Veriroo different - **Living provenance, not a PDF.** Every artwork's record is updated throughout its life — from the artist's first WiP photo through every ownership transfer and expert inspection. The CoA is tied to the ownership chain, not issued once and forgotten. - **Work-in-progress documentation.** Artists can document the making of a piece through the Creation Workspace: timestamped photos, materials notes, technique records. These entries are permanent, cannot be deleted, and predate any reason to fake them — making them a stronger authenticity signal than retrospective certificates. - **Physical QR codes and NFC tags on the artwork.** Every registered work gets a QR code and optional NFC tag that links directly to its live provenance record. Anyone can scan it — on the wall, at auction, or in a private home — and see the current trust tier, ownership history, and verification status. If a work is reported stolen or lost, that flag travels with the physical object permanently. - **Independent verifier marketplace.** Collectors and sellers can book a qualified art authenticator through Veriroo's verifier directory. Verifiers set their own fees and operate independently — they are not Veriroo employees. Verification can be remote (video call), shipping-based, drop-in, or call-out. The result is permanently linked to the artwork's provenance chain. - **Secure Transfer.** An optional physical verification step built into marketplace sales. The artwork passes through an independent Verification Partner before reaching the buyer — the verifier inspects, submits a report, and only then are funds released and the CoA issued. Buyers can see upfront whether a listing includes Secure Transfer. - **Automatic resale royalties.** Artists set a royalty percentage (0–30%) when registering a work. It locks permanently and is enforced at the payment layer on every future resale through Veriroo — no manual claim, no chasing, no paperwork. - **Escrow-protected payments.** All marketplace payments are held by Stripe until the buyer confirms receipt. The 5% Veriroo platform fee is deducted at settlement. Sellers connect a Stripe payout account; funds arrive within 1–3 business days. - **Commissions.** Artists can accept paid commissions through the platform. The buyer pays the full agreed amount upfront into escrow; the artist works through staged milestones with WiP evidence at each stage; the buyer approves each stage to release that portion to the artist. On final settlement the commission is recorded as the origin of the work in its permanent provenance. - **Guided Upload Wizard.** A step-by-step registration flow that takes a piece from photos to a protected, certified, sellable record in minutes — photos (finished, work-in-progress and private forensic shots in one go), ownership declarations, watermark, details, then a resumable per-item checklist covering provenance, certificate, showcase, valuation, and marketplace listing. - **Verity AI.** Verity is Veriroo's built-in AI assistant — it helps artists upload and document work, helps collectors discover art, and guides verifiers through jobs, with a daily free query allowance. Verity also powers **AI valuations**: an indicative market estimate with a confidence level for any work. Each fresh valuation uses one valuation token; tokens are included with Pro, earned when a work sells, or topped up in bundles. A valuation is a guide, not a certified appraisal. ## Trust tiers (provenance status) Every artwork on Veriroo has one of the following trust statuses, visible on the item's public verify page and on any marketplace listing: - **Unverified** — registered but no documentation or CoA yet. The work exists in the record; nothing more is claimed. - **WiP Verified** (amber) — the artist has documented the creation process through the Creation Workspace with at least one public work-in-progress entry. Timestamped evidence of authorship exists. - **Full Provenance WiP** (green) — three or more public WiP entries including at least one photo. The strongest self-documented provenance level, sufficient for CoA issuance. - **Verified** — a Certificate of Authenticity has been issued following standard verification checks. - **Verified by Expert** — an independent authorised expert has authenticated the piece based on specialist knowledge and physical inspection. - **Provenance Complete** — the strongest trust level: CoA issued, expert verified, and provenance record confirmed with supporting custody documentation. Suitable for high-value sales, insurance, and gallery due diligence. - **Marked lost / Reported stolen** — status flags that travel with the physical object via QR/NFC scan. - **Inconclusive** — an expert attempted verification but could not reach a definitive conclusion. Recorded permanently in provenance for transparency. ## How it works ### For artists 1. Register an artwork via **+ Upload**, which opens the guided **Upload Wizard** (https://veriroo.com/upload/wizard.html) — it walks you through it step by step: photos (including work-in-progress shots that become public provenance entries automatically), ownership, watermark, and details. The wizard also handles works still in progress (no photo required to begin), and you can keep adding images to a piece over time into its Notes, Forensic Evidence and WiP records. 2. Document the creation process through the **Creation Workspace**: add timestamped photos and notes at each stage. Three public entries with at least one photo achieves Full Provenance WiP (green) status. (The Upload Wizard can log three WiP photos at upload time, reaching green status immediately.) 3. Set a royalty percentage (0–30%). It locks on first sale and pays automatically on every future resale. 4. List on the marketplace with a price, shipping details, and optional Secure Transfer verification. Or keep works in Showcase only — not for sale. 5. Connect a Stripe payout account to receive sale proceeds and commission payments. 6. Accept **commissions** from buyers: set a price, choose a payment schedule (milestone 20/20/20/40, split 50/50, or full on delivery), and invite the buyer via email. Veriroo holds the funds in escrow and releases each stage when the buyer approves the corresponding WiP evidence. ### For collectors 1. Browse the Marketplace (for-sale works) or Showcase (all public works, not necessarily for sale). 2. Purchase via escrow: payment held by Stripe until you confirm receipt. 3. On receipt confirmation: ownership transfers and the royalty is paid to the artist. 4. Scan the QR code or NFC tag on any physical work to verify current ownership and trust status. 5. Commission new work directly from artists through the platform. 6. Manage your collection — showcase items publicly, keep them private, or relist on the marketplace. ### For verifiers 1. Register as a Verification Partner and connect a Stripe payout account. 2. List in the verifier directory with your credentials, specialisms, verification methods, fee, and region. 3. Accept job requests (72-hour window to accept or decline). Payment is authorised by the requester on acceptance but not captured until the report is released. 4. Inspect the artwork (by the agreed method) and submit a report: Authentic, Likely authentic, Inconclusive, Not authentic, or Condition report only. 5. A 48-hour review window opens for the requester. Payment is captured and your fee transferred on release — automatically after 48 hours if no action is taken. 6. For jobs involving private fingerprint notes or creator-supplied evidence, an NDA is required before access is granted. ## Certificates of Authenticity (CoA) A digital CoA is a paid item — **except when a work is verified by an expert**, in which case the CoA is issued automatically and included in the verification fee (no extra charge). For works that have not been expert-verified, the owner can buy a CoA once the artwork reaches a green/authentic status (for example Full Provenance), from Account → CoA Services or the Upload Wizard's per-item checklist. Self-serve CoAs are purchased as credits, separate from subscription fees: - Single CoA: £5 - 5-pack: £20 - 10-pack: £35 - 25-pack: £75 - 50-pack: £125 An NFC sticker version of the CoA is an optional paid upgrade. The CoA is a permanent on-platform record with a QR code linking to the artwork's live provenance chain. It transfers with ownership on every resale and cannot be issued for works without verified creator attribution. ## QR codes and NFC tags Every registered artwork gets a QR code linking to its live provenance page at `https://veriroo.com/item/?tokenId=[id]`. Anyone can scan this to see the current trust tier, ownership history, verification results, and WiP evidence. NFC tags are available as an alternative to printed QR codes — discreet, logo-only marks suitable for materials where a visible QR is undesirable. Both QR and NFC point to the same live record. If a tag is lost or damaged, a secure replacement workflow links a new tag to the same record. The old tag is retired and marked replaced. The provenance history is never affected. ## Creation Workspace and WiP documentation The Creation Workspace is a panel on every artwork item page. Artists add entries of different types (Progress, Technique, Materials, Studio, Restoration) with optional photos and text. Each entry is timestamped permanently. Entries can be Public (visible on the artwork's verify page) or Private (permanently recorded, only visible to the artist). Public entries count toward the provenance milestone ladder. Private entries are useful for fingerprint details and studio notes the artist doesn't want shown publicly. The target for most artists is **Full Provenance WiP** status: three or more public entries, at least one including a photo. This is sufficient for CoA issuance and provides timestamped proof of authorship that predates any reason to fabricate it — particularly valuable for emerging and unknown artists. ## Commissions Commissions are paid agreements where a buyer funds the creation of a new, original work. The buyer pays the full agreed amount upfront into Veriroo's escrow. The artist works through milestones, submitting WiP evidence at each stage. The buyer reviews and approves (releasing that payment tranche to the artist) or requests a correction. Veriroo deducts a 5% platform fee from each milestone transfer. Payment schedules available: - **Milestone (20/20/20/40)** — four stages, ideal for complex projects - **Split (50/50)** — two stages: half on first progress update, half on delivery - **Full on delivery** — 100% on buyer confirmation of receipt On final settlement, the commission is recorded as the origin of the work in the artwork's permanent provenance. ## Showcase and Marketplace **Showcase** is a public artist or collector gallery. Works can be shown publicly without being for sale. The main public showcase is available on every plan. Artist Pro subscribers additionally get a personal "My Gallery" page at `https://veriroo.com/showcase/[artist-slug]/` — their own curated, shareable gallery. **Marketplace** lists works that are actively for sale, with visible trust tier, price, royalty percentage, and shipping details. Veriroo charges a 5% platform fee on the sale price. Stripe's payment processing fee is additional and varies by country and payment method. Showcase and Marketplace are independent — artists can show work without selling it, and delist from the marketplace without removing it from Showcase. ## Subscriptions - **Free** — upload, document, showcase, and sell. 5% marketplace fee. 20% verifier job fee. - **Pro** — reduced verification platform fee (10% vs 20%), portfolio insights and market reporting, your own branded watermark, a personal Showcase gallery, and Verity AI valuation tokens. Monthly or annual billing. Self-serve CoAs are not bundled into subscription tiers — they are a paid item (purchased as credits). A digital CoA is included free when a work is expert-verified. ## Roles - **Collector** — manages ownership, privacy, transfers, and purchases. - **Artist** — registers originals, manages creator metadata, builds WiP records, lists for sale, accepts commissions. Creator metadata locks after first sale. - **Gallery / Shop** — manages custody and point-of-sale flows. Can showcase held or exhibited pieces with clear attribution labels. - **Verification Partner** — NDA-bound, time-limited access to assigned items only. Cannot edit artwork metadata or ownership history. ## Key URLs - Homepage: https://veriroo.com/ - Marketplace: https://veriroo.com/marketplace/ - Showcase (all public works): https://veriroo.com/showcase/ - Verify a work (QR scan entry): https://veriroo.com/verify/ - Upload Wizard (guided registration): https://veriroo.com/upload/wizard.html - FAQ and Help: https://veriroo.com/faq/ - Full platform reference: https://veriroo.com/llms-full.txt - Artist onboarding: https://veriroo.com/onboarding/artist.html - Collector onboarding: https://veriroo.com/onboarding/collector.html - Sign up: https://veriroo.com/signup/ - Roadmap: https://veriroo.com/roadmap/ - Sitemap: https://veriroo.com/sitemap.xml ## Company Veriroo is operated by Cardaroo Holdings Ltd, registered in England and Wales (company no. 16872413).
